Coalition asks FBI to investigate hotel porn

NEW YORK (AP) -- Pornographic movies now seem nearly as pervasive in America's hotel rooms as tiny shampoo bottles, and the lodging industry shows little concern as conservative activists rev up a protest campaign aimed at triggering a federal crackdown.

A coalition of 13 conservative groups -- including the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America -- took out full-page ads in some editions of USA Today earlier this month urging the Justice Department and FBI to investigate whether some of the pay-per-view movies widely available in hotels violate federal and state obscenity laws.

The coalition also is trying to draw attention to CleanHotels.com, a directory of hotels and motels nationwide that pledge to exclude adult offerings from their in-room entertainment service.

Though porn is now cheaply and readily accessible on the Internet, and through many other outlets, the activists chose to target the hotel industry in part because of the well-known brands of corporations that cater to family vacationers as well as business travelers.

"These are places that you take your family -- these are respectable institutions," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. "Anything that brings porn into the mainstream is a concern. It just desensitizes people."

Here's a thought-> If you don't like it don't watch it :confused:

Here's an idea: keep the porn available, but make it so it's not automatically charged to the room. Instead, make it to where the credit card number has to be entered with the remote (it's easy enough to type in numbers) before the movie will start. That way, the kid can't wake up while the parents are sleeping, go into the living room of the suite and bring up the porn. Sure, it would be possible for the kid to rummage through the dad's wallet or something... no system is fool-proof. But my suggestion would go a long way to making it much harder for kids to stumble on the porn.

You could even watch the porn with the woman. :p

as my wife says about porn...it's hard to get hot when you're laughing so hard.

a lotta times whacking is far less problematic than dealing with another person!

lucky for me when i travel i'm too busy out with colleagues spending our pretty decent per diems on booze to find myself lonely in a hotel room, milking one out.

all you have to do is ask the front desk to block adult films, or even block all access to ordering ANY films, 2 clicks of a mouse and it's done.

But see, that might involve work and taking initiative on the parents' part.

then fuck em, sounds like the christian groups getting their panties in a bunch cause not every single person follows their beleifs.

VIVA LA PORN!!!!!!!!

If you want porn, call the front desk and ask for it. Don't make people work to not get something they didn't ask for in the first place.

you have to go into the movie ordering screen on the tv, then go to adult films, there is no automatic button for that, then through a "can't order it by mistake" series of choices before you are watching your porn, it is not flipping one switch, the only way you are getting porn here, is if you order it.

Kids can get to that easily though... but requiring the credit card to be entered via the TV would make that a lot harder.

parents can eithe monitor their kids, or simply ask we remove access to adult films. Actually it would be smart to remove access to ALL fils, the prices start at 9.99 and go to 14.99, many an angry parent I have seen upon looking at the bill.

And entering a credit card is a pain in the ass, this is a service we are selling we want to make is easy to order for those who want it, we just want it to be hard enough that accidental ordering is almost impossible.

They need to shower occassionally, for the sake of us all, or shit, for the sake of themselves so absolute monitoring is impossible. Having to act to stop something seems like more work that should be required. Not every hotel has porn & until you reach your room & investigate (or find your 6 year old looking at Massive Mammaries from Milwaukee) you may not know. Having someone who wants to watch Rickys Rigid Rocket should take effort.

ftr-I have no problem with porn being available to patrons...
