Oh, there is a third way.........the first time you see the cat clawing at yer fixtures and fittings, give in a hefty whack with a rolled up newspaper......it soon learns not to do it again

Keep trimming the nails. You can buy a nice nail-clipper for cats and a box of band-aids. You'll need both...and maybe a Tetnus shot, about a pint of Blood (your type), a Flobotemist, some pain killers...beyond that, you're all set.

Buy about 2-3 large bottle of JD and lean back on your desecrated couch...you won't mind at all. I swear!
