is there a point to the old news or ?

Hmmm...looks like somebody is a little upset. Is it with the US, or Canada? After all...your troops earned their ribbons, and your gummint didn't like it speaks volumes about how your military is perceived. I'm shocked that you aren't upset over this...:(

Just the usual neo-con verbal diarrhoea...

Neocon...I've recently discoverd its true definition. It means the socialists have nothing better to say...mostly because they are wrong.

Carry on.

with that post I was confused as to wtf Winky was trying to say...and I'm surprised you're shocked. I thought you read my posts ;)

We're a little more laid back and a little more 'suspicious' up here. We don't go in so much for blind patriotism and blind faith - we're proud of our peoples and our accomplishments - and the army is essentially just another branch of government - sometimes it works well, and sometimes not so well. It is all politics in the end, and 'we' as a whole don't swallow that at face value. The people in it get highest respect, but 'it' itself is just there.

And, I don't see much wrong really with waiting till one gets the Canadian honour before accepting one from another country.

Because it wasn't a gaurantee that he'd get a Canadian medal. The quote said 'might'. I might win the powerball lottery the day I get back to the states...

:p It's not about that. It's about honoring a soldier in the course of his/her duties. Honor delayed is honor mislayed. ;)

A soldier doesn't do it for the honour ,so does it matter if it they receive it quickly or posthumously.

Yes, it does. When an honor is bestowed, it should be given in a forthright and timely manner, lest the people who were bestowing the honor become incapacitated, and be unable to witness in favor of the recipient.

So Gato do ya think A.B. hasn't been there done that
so he can really never "get it"? Anyone wonder how the anti-war crap goin' on in this country effects our guys?
