Did you (Americans or Canadians) ever see Street Smarts?

That show really shows how absolutely stupid and pathetic Americans in general really are. For those who haven't seen it it's just a show where they ask people they find on the street simple questions and the contestants wager on whether the street people will get the answer right. I have watched the show 40-50 times and I have only seen about 3 questions I couldn't answer and all of them were pop culture questions (I am not very trendy). The thing that bugs me is most of the people on the show don't know basic stuff like who the first president was....Who Lee Harvey Oswald was, who Dick Cheney is, and much more (not all history questions). It just proves that hte average American is a moron. I am not sure if I should feel good to be smarter than at least 80% of Americans or if I should wish for blissful ignorance.

Although the ones they show are dumb, they've probably edited out tons of people who knew the answers and just keep asking the same stupid people questions to be used for subsequent shows.Jay Leno does a "Jaywalking " bit where he asks people on the street questions those who have really pathetic answers reappear in later Leno bits .My favourite was "Where are Kip and Kim" they took them to different places around the US and they had to guess where they were . While in Seattle ,they were atop the Space Needle and asked what the body of water was, when told it was Puget Sound ,they said but its not making any noise (and they were serious) :crying4:

I've seen the like before...one bit by a Canadian commedian who was definatly aiming at making us feel better by knocking down our American neighbours.

It's sad really...misrepresentational...and yet not.

I feel bad that I almost pissed myself laughing...really...I do.

AB is right.

It similar to a talk radio program. The host is supposed to control the flow of the conversation. However, if someone calls that is just unbearably stupid the rule is to shut up & let them talk.

Yeah, if you get someone who knows the answers, it won't be very entertaining. Dumb people mean ratings, because it lets viewers feel better about themselves because there's someone in even worse shape. That's probably why Jerry Springer's show is such a hit, too.

ive seen a few episodes of it.

As far as the Jerry thing goes I always thought that was straight up acting like WWE

Nah...Springer's a hit for the same reason that people stop to look at accidents, crowd around bar-fights and follow fire-trucks... it's the inner animal in us. We like violence, blood, death and disaster...we can't cheer it on in public, but we can watch Springer and his ilk.

Strange that you mention that, after the fiasco in Canada over Conan O'Brien and Triumph, the insult comic-dog... ;)
