Didn't like the Patriot Act?

When the population was out demonizing gun owners, there was a deafening silence from those left of center. When there were screams about religion being displayed, there was laughter in the streets over other's beliefs. Now there's a little thing called the fourth amendment in the crosshairs, and the grumbles are almost non-existent. If those who value their freedoms are this slow on the uptake, maybe we don't deserve them after all. What the hell am I fighting to protect this country for? If the population won't stand up for itself, then why should I stand up to protect it? Perhaps I should do it for myself. Rights carry responsibilities. It doesn't matter if you enjoy that right, or not, but the one thing you must do is fight for it. Your 'victory' in limiting gun ownership is a loss of a valuable right. It's what makes that little thing called 'illegal search and seizure' so much easier to do. Our complaints about the press will make it easier for the government to shut down the media they don't like, and substitute their own. Hell...they could do it now, and most of us probably wouldn't even know it.

I was actually against gun control. I am against big govt which is why situations like this frighten me. I agree with rights come responibilities. I think the government controls a good portion of the media already.

Hate to say it out loud, but you mean the philosophy for the USA.

No, modern man. The USA is part of the whole & the whole acts this way.
