Edwards: Religious faith should not divide voters

Umm... Wicca has been around a lot longer than, for instance, christianity, so neo-anything is probably a misnomer. For a long time it was not very smart to support wiccan beliefs (drowning, hanging, being burned at the stake...) so it kind of fell out of favor and out of view. It never really disappeared though.

I used to think like BoP that it is new not an older religion. Though I will say Paganism is older than Christianity. And I think Paganism is the influence for Wicca :)

((and yes I do consider myself to be Wiccan_))

*Sigh*
I could really care less about this, but inaccuracies give me hives. You know, when I was about Ash's age, there was a group calling themselves "The Way." They were a christian group who prayed constantly and at every meal someone would "speak in tongues" while someone else would interpret (all very slick and rehearsed, in other words total bullshit). Now, they thought their's was a new religion, but it was all plagiarized form earlier christian sects. Even the head guy wanting 25% of whatever these pathetic sheep earned. I bring this up because Gerald Gardner was pretty much the same. The wiccan belief system is based on very old pagan beliefs, there is nothing about it that is new.

Slapping fresh make-up on a seventy year old hooker don't make her a virgin.

Just my opinion, if you prefer to think of it as new, go ahead.

I know that, chcr. I didn't say that the wiccan faith was completely new, and fell out of the sky. I was merely stating that that particular sect was founded recently. :p

Well Christians basically fucked and killed all the druids who wouldn't convert so yes...Wicca does stem from times long ago.

Now where are my PC Kwanza voting options.

BTW if religious faith influences your decision then you shouldn't vote. A man who will run our country is real, faith is faith.

Actually, Julius Ceaser (yup, the Julius Ceaser) ordered the druids to be wiped out. He very nearly succeeded as well.

Oh.....and the wiccan religion has bugger all to do with druidry ;)

This is just what I think of it Chic. It is relatively new as a religion but has influences from older religions such as Paganism and I thnk there is also some influence from Native American beliefs.
