Everything you wanted to know about defragging

Of course, if you use a nicely journaled file system like, oh, say fs3 in Linux, defragging isn't necessary. ;)

I'm still waiting for zfs to become widely available.

I have ten year old spinny drives here that still work
but are too small and slow to use.

There are new considerations with SSD drives
that require that they are used properly.

If you observe the proper use guidelines they will
last as long as a regular drive.

Once you've experienced the speed of an SSD drive
you will be spoiled forever!
