Now... as a counterpoint for argument, the first recognized New Wave 80s song was M .. Pop Musik. That was 1979 .. but... christ ... prototypical pure 80s.
well, if we are splitting hairs - i'm going to google eddie grant's electric avenue.....i remember watching the video in washington state...so i don't think it was 80's yet......brb
being released in late 79, it only makes sense that it would race up the charts in a delayed fashion. Only Michael and Madonna go to numba one on day one.
I just so happen to have not only The Wall on cassette, with a 1979 copyright date, I also bought Echoes, the best of Pink Floyd. It lists the release of Another Brick in the Wall (part 2) as 1979.
Perhaps the source of confusion is the movie version's 1982 copyright date.
"Somewhere down the Crazy River"- Robbie Robertson
I remember laying on the couch in my first apartment ,after having recently moved out of my parents house, listening to"Somewhere down the Crazy River" .The beer was cold the girl was warm the red glow from the video lit up the apartment.Ah this sure is stirren up some ghosts for me.What ever happened to thsoe times
do i really just have to choose one, cause there are heaps!!!! how do i choose? it's gotta be a toss up between
tainted love - soft cell,
relax - frankie goes to hollywood, and
i love rock and roll - joan jett and the blackhearts..........
oi! there's so many to choose from decisions decisions!
Disintegration was their best album, yay , but Inbetween..., was the best song (though half of Head on the Door album sucks)
