I've always heard the stories about the Mexican jails, if you had $1,000 or so on you, you could get out, if not, well.... But, I guess I always assumed they were just stories, or at least exagerations. Maybe not.
The Mexican police have a well earned history of corruption. I've known of many non-citizens sitting in Mexican jails awaiting pay-offs of judges or local constabularies. I thought it was mainly the northern sectors though. Corruption is a national treasure huh?
