Finally found the article

yeah, i'm addicted. :alienhuh:
Soothes my nerves. I can't drink much no more, and I can only take
so much quitting at one time. :lloyd:
Yeah, I'm a redneck. I do consider other people though.
While my addiction, and preference will not permit me to quit at this time,
I do try to get a fair distance between me and people I know it offends.
Unfortunately I'm not going to shower every time I smoke a stogy, so
you might have to put up with that.
(I do have so "Axe" I can carry around with me I guess)

F.I.D.O. Some folks will know this, but, for those who don't, it stands for Forget It, Drive On. I dunno...seems to me that, if you're stupid enough to go to a club that allows smoking, and complain about the smoke, you deserve cancer...Too bad that's not what happens, though. ;)

See.. that's being polite, considerate and thoughtful. I don't care if someone smells like smoke. I just don't want to inhale it.

On this note - I don't think anyone should complain if they willingly go to a bar that allows smoking, then complain about the smoke.

However, no one deserves cancer.

Call it Darwin in action, if you prefer, but the result is the same. Nobody is forced to remain in an area with cigarette smoke...

Aside from the moronic attack upon my intelligence, your whole list, while it may be true, is just so much bullshit. If you don't like smoking, then don't go to a place that allows that activity. Isn't that the wisest thing you can do? Perhaps you folks are forced, at gunpoint, into smokey clubs. Or, what seems to be the case here, are too stupid to find a place that is smoke-free. ;)

Please read over my post, now quote the lines where I said that I would stay in an area that allowed smoking if it did bother me. Like I said, I like my lungs the way they are.

If you want to pay to shorten your life, by all means go for it.

2. If you don't want to be in an environment that permits smoking, don't go to that area. It's not that difficult. I know idiots who have enough sense to avoid something they don't like...are you less intelligent?

Read my list again, or even better, contemplate to you self the pros and cons of smoking. Come back and tell me what is less intelligent. ;)

maybe, maybe not....
If I can just hold on with it for another 10 years theres no tellin' what kinda
good gene therapy there might be. :smoke4:

And if not, you can always turn yourself into a corpsicle ane hope they find a cure plus a way to revive your frozen body.

I hear that all they are freezing now is the head.
I guess they are looking down the road to "when" it becomes legal
to clone humans, and then transplanting or something.
I don't think Medicare covers that though. :p

Read my response again, and tell me why you are the authority to tell me how to live. ;) If I want to smoke from time-to-time, and I am in an area that allows smoking, then why is it your business to tell me to stop? What gives you the authority to run other peoples lives? As I've stated, your reasons for not smoking are fine for you. To me, they are bullshit, because you don't have the right to bother me just because you don't like the activity I'm involved in. Do you try to stop bungee jumpers? How about skydivers, mountain climbers, skiiers, etc. They have just as much opportunity for death.

Are you reading my posts at all?

I don't claim to be the authority to tell you how to live.
If you want to smoke, by all means, smoke. It doesn't matter to me. I never said that it did.
I have never claimed to be the authority to run other peoples lives.

You made a point to ask "are you less intelligent?" to people that would stay in an area where people are smoking if it bothers them.

All I did was point out that smoking isn't very intelligent either.
Is it?

:)

Yes. Perhaps I'm also reading into them. ;) Are you reading mine? They're not specifically targeted to you, but your responses are what are usually used in order to make these bans 'legal'...

Unfortunately, that's not the attitude of non-smokers who enter a smokey area, and then complain.

As with all things in life, when taken to extremes, everything leads to death. Control your habits, and don't let your habits control you. Fact is, that no non-smoker (as in never puffed one themselves) has ever died from second-hand smoke. You can't say that about victims of drunk drivers (also a pariah), or those driving under the influence. As long as cigarettes are legally purchased items, then the only restrictions placed upon where one smokes should be up to the owners of the property in question.

I honestly never had a problem with people smoking around me. That does not mean I think it is a smart thing to do though. I am not one to complain much about anything, nothing pisses me off more than a person that looks for things to complain about.

Most people I know are good about it, asking if it is alright if they smoke in the car and such if the window is down. I always say "go to it" unless it is my car.

Watching my grandfather die of lung cancer and all he went through because of them did it for me. I have never put a smoke to my lips before, and I never will.

The province I live in has banned smoking in public places, so it is hardly an issue for me anyway.

Me, either.

I never, ever, smoke when I'm driving, and I don't smoke in somebody elses car, either.

Sorry to hear that. I, too, have lost a family member to lung cancer. He smoked 2 packs a day. I've never gone over 5 single cigarettes a day...and I've been known to go weeks without them on occasion.

But it is an issue for those who smoke. Aren't they part of the public as well? Don't they pay taxes? I can see a private business dictating policy inside their environs, but the government should not be involved if the activity is legal in any other place. An extremely liberal idea, is it not?
