finger printing children.

they have these kid safety fairs all over the country nowadays where they make a fingerprint of your child and in some cases, dna. they give you a copy and they keep a copy for their records. this is suppose to be for in case they are kidnapped, but does anyone else see where this will lead?

Sure, it will lead to a national database of everyones DNA and fingerprints. Don't do anything wrong, and it won't mean a thing.

Yes and No. The Government has made it clear for years that they would like to have fingerprints on the entire population. I myself had to give mine up when the restaurant I was working at was robbed one night. It doesn't really bother me much though, as I know I live a somewhat law-abiding life. The DNA collection is interesting to me though, I know they say it is much more accurate than fingerprints, but I would like to see that on a national level.

hmm, thats true, i guess i'm just being cynical, i just think it's sneaky.

Like it matters, Ive been finger printed in high school, college, when I got my conceled weapons permit, and then about 50 times when I applied to the United States Secret Service.

I think they should have a national data base of finger prints and DNA

yes, but you misunderstand me. i am in agreement with the database, i've been fingerprinted a couple of times myself - no, not by the police-
i just don't know why they don't just tell you what they are doing. i guess they don't want people to hacked off about it...

What do you mean they don't tell you what they are doing? If you take your child in for the fingerprinting and whatnot, isn't it known that the information will be in a database of some kind (preferrably national) so that if anything happens to the child the information can be looked up? :s

exactly, they are playing on a parents fear to get the data to get around making it mandatory.

I guess I still don't see the problem. It isn't mandatory, it's voluntary. And it makes sense, I think.

i have no problem with any of it. heck, i'm gonna get my children fingerprinted. i was just stoned and pondering.....still sneaky...

i just find it curious that they haven't identified a single child with this database.
or have i some how managed to completely miss something?

Actually tonks, you're not totally stoned yet...Those data bases should never be available to the authorities for prosecutorial purposes. Even the prints that PT surrendered when the restaurant got robbed should have been returned to him once the investigation cleared him. They were collected for specific purpose and use beyond that purpose would violate your rights... :D
