Girl survives dad's suicide plunge
A 5-year-old girl ''miraculously'' survived last night after her father jumped to his death off a bridge onto Highway 401 while apparently holding her in his arms. The Durham Region man repeatedly called his estranged wife around 4:30 p.m. to say he was going to kill himself and their daughter, Toronto police Inspector Brian O'Connor said. The girl was in ''guarded condition'' last night at the Hospital for Sick Children. She suffered some head injuries and there was internal bleeding, but she did not suffer any broken bones or even lose consciousness, the officer said.

OK...so you're going to off yourself...great! Why the fuck did this guy or anyone else decide to take their kids with'em?

This 5-year old is damn lucky! Someone's watching over her...the 401's nothing to sneeze at.

Because he was sick. Isn't that your line? It's an illness. Not just selfish, greedy, childishness. And it's our fault for not helping him .. *chortle*

I'm sorry. I almost managed to say it with a straight face. But I just couldn't pull it off.

Nah...you're right. He was perfectly sane as is every human being on the face of the Earth.

There is no such thing as a mental illness...Psychologists are just faking it.

No chemical imbalances in the brain, no illnesses that affect the brain whatsoever (the brain is protected by some weird force-field and all humans have perfect brains from birth until the day they die)

Nothing that happens to anyone from the day they are born affects their mind in any way, shape or form.

No amount of torture, physical, social or mental has any effect on a person's personality.

Everyone is always responsible for everything they do...unless, the devil made them do it.

Take some lessons from me, Prof....one day you might even be able to render diatribes with a straight face. :p

The 401 overpass would be one of these

Well whatever it was, it wasn't far enough
to kill a five year old!
I find it incredible how kids can walk away from things that'd put the average adult in traction for a few months.
Ditto for drunks.

Offhand...I'd say that it would've been a 20'-25' drop onto blacktop depending on where the overpass was located.

Reminds me of Susan Smith. (Is that her name, the NC "mom" who chickened out but let her kids roll into the pond)

I really hope the guy is rotting in hell. That's where he deserves to be for putting his child into that situation as well.
