Give us a Song! (lyrics thread)

Frank Zappa: I dont even care

Would ya b’lieve it
I-i don’t even care
Ah-ah! listen!
I said i-i-i-i
(come out this evenin’)
Don’t even care
(so let me tell you why this evenin’)
Listen! not enough I can say it
About the white, the blue and the red
So everybody just-a really goes scared
And I ow!
Didn’t I tell you that

I-i-i-i don’t even care
No, no, no, I don’t
Listen! standin’ in the third line
Everybody learnin’ to learn
Ain’t nobody doin’ fine
Let me tell you why

I-i-i-i don’t even care
Don’t give me no insanities
Don’t give me no insanities
I know you know I don’t mind
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Oh I know I don’t
Now listen...
Everybody’s bein’ big big hearted
Everybody’s bein’ big big hearted
An’ I wonder where the rest got started
I never know they will no go started

I-i-i-i don’t even care
Yes sir!
I-i-i-i don’t even care
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Help me!
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Don’t care no more!
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Everybody’s doin’ line
In tellin’ you lies
’n you want me to b’lieve it!
Everybody’s tryin’ to offer me somethin’
Ain’t nothin’ I need to need

I said
I-i-i-i don’t even care
No no I don’t
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Now listen, now ain’t that some spoon!

I-i-i-i don’t even care
Could you tell me why?
What was hole?
What was hole?
I-i-i-i don’t even care
What was hole is this lastin’ hand
What was hole is lastin’ hand
Let me tell you

I-i-i-i don’t even care
Hey, you can’t hold on to it
’cause it ain’t gonna last!
Would you let it to me baby?
Just talkin’ ’bout

I-i-i-i don’t even care
You see: I don’t care!
Listen! I said now
I-i-i-i don’t even care
So listen, lemme tell ya
The cow used to jump over the moon!
An’ I ain’t jumpin’ over the fence!
As I told,
It don’t make no sense doin’ it

I-i-i-i don’t even care
That’s the reason!
That’s the reason!
That’s the reason!
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Say, look, they thought he was a man
And the movin’ wanderer was a woman
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Somethin’ in the mornin’
You don’t care in the evenin’
I don’t care at night
Is that what you believe they’re tryin’ to say to me
Over the fifth of south life?

I-i-i-i don’t even care
No good!
Talkin’ ’bout
I-i-i-i don’t even care
No I don’t! I don’t care!
Sayin’ that
I-i-i-i don’t even care
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Somebody been holdin’ me this evenin’
I-i-i-i don’t even care
Hold me tight
Hold me tight
Hold me tight this evenin’ ’cause
I-i-i-i don’t even care

another great Frank Zappa song this is Were Turning Again

Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again

They took a whole bunch of acid
So they could see where it’s at
(it’s over there, over there,
Over there, over there
And underneath also)
They lived on a whole bunch of nothing
They thought they looked very good
They’d never ever worry
They were always in a hurry
To convince themselves that what they were
Was really very groovy
Yes, they believed in all the papers
And the magazines that defined their folklore
They could never laugh
At who or what they thought they were
Or even what they thought
They sorta oughta be
They were totally empty
(totally empty)
And their lives were really useless
So what the fuck?
They didn’t have no sense of humor
Now they got nothing left
To laugh about
Including themselves

Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again

They were mellow
They were yellow
They were wearing smelly blankets
They looked like donovan fans
They walkin’ ’round
With stupid flowers
In they hair and everywhere
They tried to stuff ’em up the guns
Of all the cops
And other servants of the law
Who tried to push ’em around
And later moved ’em down
But they were full of all that shit
That they believed in
So what the fuck?
(what the fuck? )
Now I’ve seen ’em tightenin’ up they headbands
On the weekend
And they get loaded
When they came to town
They walked around in greenwich village
To buy posters they could hang up
In them smelly little secret
Black light bedrooms
On long island
Singin’: "jimi come back!"
Now come back and regulate the boy’s fuzz-tone
Your haze was so purple
It caused your axis to be bold as love
Now jimi (feed back) gimme some feedback
Come back and feed back on my knapsack
You can feed back the fuzz tone from your wah-wah
While you bend down
And set your stuff on fire

Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again

We can turn it around
We can do it again
We can go back in time
Through the canyons of your mind
On the eve of destruction
We can act like we are
Something really special
You just jump in the bath-tub
With that other guy jim
And make him be more careful
We can visit big mama
And wrap her on the back
When she eats her sandwich
(la la la la)
We can take care of janis
When she gets so depressed
She can’t take it no more
We can laugh at keith moon’s jokes
(ha ha ha ha ha)
And the colour tv
(ha ha)
He threw out the windum
From the second floor
Everybody come back
No one can do it like you used to
If you listen to the radio
And what they play today
You can tell right away:
All those assholes really need you!
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again

Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again
Turn and turn
Turn and turn
We’re turning again

more eagles....

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don' you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no youger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're loosin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late

Safe Place - Staind

Another day
Inside my world
I'm married to
you and this road.
A road that never lets
me sleep .
So theres no way to escape the
demons I am forced to keep.

And then I find you here
Through your eyes
Everything's clear
And I'm home
Inside your arms,
But I'm alone for now.

I mean the best
with what I say.
It doesn't always
sound that way
I never learned to
Work things out cause
In my family all we
Ever seem to do is shout

But then I find you here
Through your eyes,
everythings clear
And I'm home
inside your arms,
but I'm alone for now.

And when I try to sleep-
the drugs I take
are killing me - I think of you
to ease my pain -
but you're so far-
Now it's time to say goodbye.
I love you baby
please don't cry -
'cause then I'll find you here -
Through your eyes everythings clear -
and I'm home inside your arms - but I'm alone for now.

But then I find you here
Through your eyes,
everythings clear
And I'm home
inside your arms,
but I'm alone for now.

Werewolves of London

Written By LeRoy P. Marinell, Waddy Wachtel and Warren Zevon
c. 1975 Zevon Music/BMI and Polite Music/ASCAP

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get a big dish of beef chow mein
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London

If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of London again
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London

He's the hairy handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London

Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect
Ah-ooh Werewolves of London
Werewolves of London again
Draw blood

And my personal favorite

Carmelita

Warren Zevon

I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
And I'm here in Echo Park

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I'm sittin' here playing solitaire
With my pearl-handled deck
The county won't give me no more methadone
And they cut off your welfare check

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I pawned my Smith Corona
And I went to meet my man
He hangs out down on Alvarado Street
By the Pioneer chicken stand

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Trooper - Raise a Little Hell
Raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell
Raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell
Raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell, raise a little Hell

If you don't like

What you got
Why don't you change it
If your world is all screwed up
Rearrange it

Raise a little Hell ...

If you don't like what you see

Why don't you fight it
If you know there's something wrong
Why don't you right it

Raise a little Hell ...

In the end it comes down to your thinking

And there's really nobody to blame
When it feels like your ship is sinking
And you're too tired to play the game

Nobody's going to help you

You've just got to stand up alone
And dig in your heels
And see how it feels
To raise a little Hell of your own

Raise a little Hell ...

If you don't like

What you got
Why don't you change it
If your world is all screwed up
Rearrange it

Raise a little Hell ...

Trooper : The boys in the bright white sports car

Here they come
The boys in the bright white sports car
Waving their arms in the air
Who do they think they are
And where did they get that car

There they go
The boys in the bright white sports car
Honking at all the girls
It's jack-of-all-trades Stan
And Jerry the garbage man

There they go
The boys are really rollin'
Some old lady called the cops
Said the car is probably stolen, stolen

There they go
The boys are really rollin'
Some old lady called the cops
Said the car is probably stolen, stolen

Here they come
The boys in the bright white sports car
Waving their arms in the air
Who do they think they are
And where did they get that car

Chcr, I tried guitar lessons when I saw younger. Half way through the lesson, the instructor asked to see my hands. He took one look at my knuckles and told the cashier to refund my money, and told me to sell the guitar. With my hands, I'd never be able to play credibly.

Ask Bish about how I can't even catch a ball.

k...now you made me :D

We're Here For a Good Time - who else? :D
A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it in to you
Cause I believe what he said to be true
He said

We're here for a good time

Not a long time (not a long time)
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

And the sun is shinin'

In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
And every year, has it's share of tears
And every now and then it's gotta rain

We're here for a good time

Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

And the sun is shinin'

In this rainy city
And the sun is shinin'
Oooooh, isn't it a pity
That every year, has it's share of tears
Every now and then it's gotta rain

We're here for a good time

Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine every day

Dated, but good stuff:

ICE T LYRICS
SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER LYRICS

Squeeze the trigger
Rampage on stage,my crews in a rage
Searched my posse, found the Uzi but missed the 12 gauge
Maniac,I'm a rhyme brainiac, livin' on the edge of a razor
Remember that
Cold rollin' thick as a shake,I'm rockin' hard as a quake
I can't live on bread and water or lobster and steak
My mino's a riot gun,there ain't none bigger
About to unload the ammo,"E" squeeze the trigger
They say I'm violent, they should watch their T.V.
They say I'm brutal, they should check their P.D.
You made me,now your kids rave me
I rap about the life that the city streets gave me
Murder,intrigue,somebody must bleed
Miami Vice is small time,L.A's the big league
From the rollin' 60's to the nickerson "G"
Pueblos,grape street,this is what I see
The jungle,the 30's,the V.N.G.
Life in L.A. ain't no cup of ter
Squeeze the trigger
I've been dogged out by cops, shackled and socked
Paid my dues to the streets, took my hard knocks
Disrespected by snobs, damn near trampled by mobs
Persecuted by squares workin' nine to five jobs
Like a panther I prowl ,like a lion I growl
Learn to see behind my back like the head of an owl
I'm the voice of the youth, the prophet of truth
What I speak is really though some
May say ruthless tactics are takin' by me to awaken
People to life but I feel no fakin'
No jivin',no lyin',no frontin',no playin'
Say exactly whats up,understand what I'm sayin'
Ban me,try it,you might cause a riot
What the radio won't play, the underground will supply it
I'm a MC pirate that's loud not quiet
Radical as they make'em,make a rule I'll defy it
Critics may say I'm wise, some may call my words lies
I've lived more in one day than they will in their lives
But most do respect the words I inject
Kick credit for realism and the truth I project
Because I could bust rhymes for fun,or cut MC's like a knife
But the topic I love is the drama of life
So don't diss me don't dare,I feel you should care
You may think I'm soft but you're just unaware
Of the wrath of the Ice enraged prepare
For a true nighmare
Squeeze the trigger
Cops hate kids, kids hate cops, cops kill kid's with warnin' shouts
What is crime and what in not?what is justice?I think I forgot
We buy weapons to keep us strong
Reagan sends guns where they don't belong
The controversy is thick and the drag is strong
But no matter the lies we all know who's wrong
Homeless sleep on the city streets
Waitin' to die with nothin' to eat
While rich politicians soak their feet
In the pools at their ten million buck retreats
People hate people for color of face
No one had a choice in the race we were placed
A brother in queens was beaten and chased
Murdered cold in the streets, a goodamn disgrace
Just because of his race, his life went to waste
And no one went to jail when the court heard the case
Justice or corruption?it's all interlaced
How can you swallow this?I can't stand the taste
Squeeze the trigger
I get paid for illin',cold makin' a killin'
My pockets keep fillin',I got dollars to the ceilin'
Got a safe in my floor, car got bullet proof doors
Every time I rock the mic I leave you wishin' for more
Because my raps ain't bull, got cold stupid pull
You wanna eat my rhymes like candy, till your mind's over full
But most MC's today ain't got nothin' to say
"A" to the mother fuckin' "K"
Squeeze the trigger

40 years this weekend since they were first on Ed Sullivan... :D

In My Life

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

I think this group was its own genre...

If

If a picture paints a thousand words,
then why I can't paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
if a face could launch a thousand ships,
then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you, You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
you come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tommorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you. And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
and you and I would simply fly
away

I haven't thought about this one in years! What a great oldie!

Little Peggy Marsh - I Will Follow Him

I love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn't an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep me away

I must follow him, ever since he touched my hand I knew
That near him I always must be
And nothing can keep him from me
He is my destiny

I love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow
He'll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
From now until forever, forever, forever

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn't an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep, keep me away
Away from my love

I love him, I love him, I love him
And where he goes I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow
He'll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
From now until forever, forever, forever

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn't an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep, keep me away
Away from my love

Do-do do-do-do do-do-do and where he goes
I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow
I know I'll always love him

If I Can Dream

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true
There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
the doubts and fears
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won’t that sun appear
We’re lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We’re trapped in a world
That’s troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly
Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now

Rainy Days and Mondays:

Talking to myself and feeling old

Sometimes I'd like to quit

Nothing ever seems to fit

Hangin' around, nothing to do but frown

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

What I've got they used to call the blues

Nothing is really wrong

Feeling like I don't belong

Walking around some kind of lonely clown

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny but it seems I always wind up here with you

It's nice to know somebody loves me

Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do

To run and find the one who loves me

(*) What I feel is come and gone before

No need to talk it out

We know what it's all about

Hanging around, nothing to do but frown

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do

Run and find the one who loves me

Repeat (*)

Hangin around, nothing do to but frown

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Closer To The Heart lyrics

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart
The blacksmith and the artist
Reflect it in their art
They forge their creativity
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart

Philosophers and ploughmen
Each must know his part
To sow a new mentality
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart
You can be the captain
I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heart

Bad Religion - Lose as directed

little girl's arms open wide, two ways to go but you can't decide
follows all rules, has no say
ends up in somebody elses play
close your eyes cuz you just dont need them anyway

lose as directed dont take no chance
dont end your life upon circumstance
mystery and misery go hand in hand
so you better follow the master plan
dont use your head, lose as directed

little boy sittin in his master's arms
safe and protected from any harm
wants to be a man, wants to branch out
but hes told not to ask questions or doubt
close your mind, its a book of instructions now

lose as directed, dont take no chance
dont end your life upon circumstance
mystery and misery go hand in hand
so you better follow the master plan
don't use your head, lose as directed
lose as directed, lets go

monkey see, monkey do
just another animal in the zoo
got four wall security
never even have to read a recipe
but its not exactly what you would call free

lose as directed, dont take no chance
dont end your life upon circumstance
mystery and misery go hand in hand
so you better follow the master plan
dont use your head, lose as directed
lose as directed, lose as directed,
lose as directed, lose as directed, lose as directed, you lose

Bad Religion - Queen of the 21st Century

From the time she could crawl
She was all draped in macrame'
She was preen and redeemed
In a church that tried to show the way
She was taught to never ask for more
They had no idea of what she had in store

She's the queen of the 21st century
Just a ghost of what her parents thought a little girl should be
Analog heart, analog nerves, analog brain
But a fixture of the digital domain
Woh...

From the time she could read
She could see that there was urgency
No debate, just a spate of ignorance in a splintering community
She could never meet their expectations
Then she came to symbolize the nation

She's the queen of the 21st century
Just a shell of what her parents thought a little girl should be
Steeped in spite, coddled in fear, drenched in novelty
Oh but masterful of sensual technology
Oh...

She's the queen

She's the queen
No rules in her empire
She's the queen
Just libido and desire
She's a lean, mean fighting machine
The stuff for modern media lore
And she always knows the score

She's the queen of the 21st century
Just a ghost of what her parents thought a little girl should be
Fallen star, brack and brew (black and blue?), broken hearts, wasted youth
Rusted cars, twisted roots, mental scars, the ugly truth
Oh...

She's the queen of the 21st century (2x)
And she's a modern day romantic, a walking controversy
She's the queen of the 21st century (3x)
She's the queen
