Good news: My cousin just returned home from Kuwait.

Bad news: My brother is scheduled to be in Iraq for 1 year starting in February.

Pray for him, pray for all troops, pray for peace.

that really bites.... i just hope they believe in what they are doing, it's only when you start to doubt what is right that everything starts going wrong and all turns to poo, and you end up shit creek without a canoe:crap:

From what I can tell, a lot of people who enlist in the military don't have an opinion one way or another about the war because there isn't much they can do about it, they just follow orders.

My brother and many of his friends went into various branches of the military. Most, if not all of them, went in because it's a guarateed job for 3-5 years out of high school and it gives you lots of options once your original enlistment is over. My brother, for example, probably couldn't have gotten into college, didn't have the grades. He did, however, work on cars. He enlisted and now he's a tank mechanic. He is working on certifications (ASE?) while stationed in Germany. He was second in his AIT class, the first time he really ever did well in any type of school, probably because he was interested in what he was learning.

I don't remember hearing a political word come out of his mouth. Ever. He doesn't want to go to Iraq though, and he's not alone, but he will because at this point he doesn't have a choice. He will do whatever is asked of him, and do it well, because that's the kind of guy he is.
