until proven innocent.

Change you can believe in, at least for white so-called Christians.

5 Militia Men Must Stay Locked Up Awaiting Trial
During a series of raids in late March, authorities arrested nine members of a southern Michigan group called Hutaree. The government claims they were scheming to kill a police officer then attack officers who attended the funeral in the first steps toward a broader rebellion.

doncha love that Patriot Act?

Bail refused? No! Those poor innocent men have to face the exact same request for bail at a hearing that the rest of we do??!? GASP!

Puh-lease.

well it's not like they killed anybody....yet

I think the gov. jumped the gun on it myself.
They usually wait until they are in motion, then step in, to get a more
solid case.
With the loss of freedom from the patriot act though, they can persecute,
before prosecuting.

Beside...You, don't live under the same law as us.

they were planning to use terror to forward a specific political agenda.

they are terrorists.

fuck them.

you think they should let islamic terrorists out on bail?

citizens...
yeah possibly, with an ankle bracket, like they did the other members of this group.

I question this administrations definition of terrorist, and their usage of the patiot act.

Did you like the patriot act under Bush? Do you like it now?

Okay. So the pro(er)secutors appealed the judges decision to release all nine of the suspects because they didn't like five of them.

This was a bail revocation. Happens all of the time; but not usually before an appeals court.

I saw nothing in the story to indicate that any of the nine has done anything to violate the terms of the bail. It seems that the pro(er)secutors simply think that these five are too dangerous, after their having done nothing overt to this date, to leave on the street.

This is nothing more than a pissing contest.

The judge who granted them bail said that the case had failed to prove they were an actual threat. He said that saying you are going to do something is not the same as actually doing it.

Where did you come up with "bail refused?" Those words never appeared in the thread title, thread header, or the linked story.

They were already granted bail with stringent conditions.

This was a bail revocation request to revoke the bail of persons who were already out on bail.
