Prime Minister John Howard has rejected calls for trade and military boycotts over the execution, which is scheduled for Friday.
Howard has, however, made five personal pleas to Singapore and his foreign and justice ministers have also called for clemency.
Signapore has a point...and Australia's PM understands them, it seems.

Nguyen’s hanging is set for the same day the United States is due to execute its 1,000th prisoner since 1977.
 
America already has a movie based on drug using youths caught by a foreign gov't, in their country & the absurdity of excessive jail/death penalty penalties for petty recreational drug users. Now Australia can make one.

People need to realize, once they leave their shores, the rules change.
 
Interesting that they enforce the law, even though he was leaving their soil with the drugs. He wasn't bringing it in. He obtained it there.

Mandatory Hanging for a first offence. I can live with that.
 
Indeed. Singapore has made it widely known that drug infractions merit the death penalty. Its not like he was a user... he was an outright smuggler.
 
Why is this news? I couldn't care less about this. It goes along the same lines as that spoiled punk who got caned not too long ago...Michael Fay...
