The movie The Terminal, about a passenger who is constricted within the airport due to diplomatic problems is actually based on a real man who has been in that state since 1988.
This man has been stuck in the Charles De Gaulle airport for 15 years because of paper troubles and now no nation claims him or wants him. He has been sleeping in his same bench for 15 years and doesn't plan to leave even after his paper troubles have been solved. He now has no friends, family or anyone he knows outside of the airport.
The movie studio gave him a six figure sum which sits in the bank because he has little use for it. He doesn't plan to leave the terminal after 15 years because he has lost all confidence in humanity outside of the terminal.
Wow...what a way to fuck up a man's life. 15 years...amazing.
