Are they actually serious?

Three emergency-room doctors called Friday for long, pointed kitchen knives to be banned in a bid to reduce the number of stabbings in Britain.

Writing in the British Medical Journal, three doctors from London's West Middlesex University Hospital said that at least half of stabbing cases involved kitchen knives. Long, pointed knives serve no useful purpose in kitchens, they argued.

Why not? If they can eliminate firearms, pointy things, poisons, clubs, and chainsaws, all they'll be left to treat is the plague and maybe the occasional case of scurvy.
 
For years, one of the more cogent arguments against gun control is that you can kill with other weapons, which are far too commonplace and otherwise useful to ban - like knives or clubs. Now these airheads are actually trying to suggest just that. These are supposedly educated folks? LMAO.

Taken to its logical conclusion, imagine where else this argument might lead. What other common household items can be used to commit murder? Knives, baseball bats, frying pans....it all should obviously be banned. And what doesn't kill does harm....ever been beaten with a coat hangar? Maybe we need small appliance control!

Amazing, isn't it? First in Britain, then coming to the United States, an effort to ban all items that could possibly be used to harm someone. Soon we'll all be living in padded rooms with a government handler appointed to every household to tell us what we can own, what we can't own, what we can handle, and what we have to leave alone.

Great Britain is turning into one huge kindergarten. We're next.

Long blades are forbidden in Mexico, they are considered white weapons.

You can have them at home but not carry them with you.
 
Soon we'll have gone full circle & will return to caves with nothing but rocks for weapons & protection.

Its illegal to carry a knife with a blade over 3 inches. The doctors have a point in a random kind of way, lots of kids are carrying knives. Many inner city kids are emulating american gangs but they can't get hold of guns so they carry and use knives. I think it would be easier to search all teenagers but the police can't do that for fear of being called racist etc..
 
again, the focus is wrong. a knife is a tool, a gun is a tool. if you take these away there are still a bevy of options. shovel, ice pick, broken bottle, hairbrush. are we going to have nothing left? we need to focus on the defective individuals that insist upon such repugnant, selfish, destructive activity and punish them for it. severely.

I dare say the thought of carrying knives predates American influence... predates Roman influence ... predates written languages.
