I actually made the deans list throughout my college career but at the time I decided it was more fun to get high......What a dumb mistake that was.

[singing badly]Regrets.....I've had a few.....[/singing badly]

I dunno what my Canadian College diploma counts as. :confuse3:

somewhere between High School and US College I guess?

GED
You forgot a "Trade School" option.
I've got one year college, and 3 years/trades of Lanier Tech.
Machine tooling, Small Engine Repair, and Basic computer.

and I still can't spell worth a shit half the time. :D

GED, outsmarted my college profs & quit before they could indoctrinate me...life & reading are the best teachers.

My diploma test consisted of guessing how many jelly beans were in the jar....I just wanted the jelly beans man.

Yeah...let's just put down higher education

I have had this argument before and I'll have it again if necessary.

To all the people who think higher education is a waste of time and or money...talk to me in 6 years when I've been working for 4 years with my degree and am a licenced professional and I'll SHOW you how wrong you are!

It's not for everyone...but it's also FAR from a waste!

I agree Nixy. I am not proud of dropping out of college for crank, but it's a sad fact that I did. Maybe someday I'll go back.

Yeah, but Gonz was saying that the best teachers and life and reading. Like all that a person could ever need in life can be learned on their own.

I am a VERY strong believer that EVERYONE should continue school after highschool...Uni...college...tradeschool...doesn't matter what type of school...PhD or a technical diploma...whatever they are good at and makes them happy. Not everything can be self taught and even if it can one usually gets more out of it if someone else teaches them. The basics come from a book...but nothing replaces the instruction of an experienced person.

Ten units atay from a bachelor's degree in journalism... and I'll be four units away at the end of this semester.

Nixy, one thing you'll find is that your first year on the job will teach you many times more than your entire college career will. That's not to disrespect college, but it's a fact that all the schooling in the world doesn't give you real-world experience.

I, in no way, put down an education. I went to college and, given the time & opportunity today would go back & get a degree. However, life is the best teacher, assuming your willing to learn.

Yet one more of the very few things Gonz has said I agree with. College is a great place to learn acedemia, but the only way to learn practical application of anything is through life experience. Some proffessions require a certain amount of acedmic knowlege to qualify you, but actually doing a job is the only way to truly learn it. Doctor, Lawyer or Indain Chief, doing it is where it's at.

"Education is an admirable thing, but it is important to remember from time to time nothing that is worth knowing can be taught" ~Oscar Wilde

I completely agree.
