hug-a-geek day

On Friday, it's time for you to show your appreciation for those geeks in shining armor. Ted Kekatos has created System Administrator Appreciation Day, a time to honor the people whom neither rain, nor snow, nor bizarre "illegal operation" errors can keep from fixing your machine. Kekatos, a droll system administrator in Chicago, was inspired to create the special day by a Hewlett-Packard ad he saw a few years ago. In the ad, a system administrator is bombarded with presents from employees as thanks for installing new printers ...

The event, now in its third year, is designed to pay tribute to anyone in information technology. Kekatos hopes System Administrator Appreciation Day will become a bigger holiday along the lines of Secretary's Day, and he's even considering sending a little reminder to the CEO at his own company.

Officially I'm the Reseach Assistant ...

unofficially, I'm the translator, layout person, & spellchecker 'cause no one knows how to spell around here :D

*scratches head*

I thought you guys worked at a Hula school? You do somethign else aswell?

we're actually a non profit organization .. within the foundation, we have a Public Charter High School, a preschool, and various projects ... I work technically for the Charter school and ku'u works technically for the foundation directly ... but none of that matters cause once you work for The Family (there's that word again :D), you work whereever needed and called on ...

I wouldn't dream of working anywhere else :)

That's neat!

So, Ku'u's sister goes to school in the same building as you work? And when he daughter goes to pre-school it'll be in the same building?

yup, freaky isn't it.

my daughter will be going to a preschool, and later to a school, in the same building as i work in ... PLUS, her teachers and principle will most likely be related to her ... PLUS, at night, when she goes to hula practice, she'll be in the same building, learning from more people who are related to her

Ku'u: That is alittle weird to me. When I think of it though, the place my parents grew up was a little town and everyone knew everyone and many were realted. There was no "FAMILY" business though... :D
