He knows that he can't back down too quickly, or he appears weak. But he doesn't want war either, because he knows that the other arab nations will not come to his aid. He's pissed them off too, over the years. He proved he's dangerous to his neighbours when he went after Kuwait. And he proved how piss poor his army is when they started surrendering to unmanned drones.
My question is, what does he get out of all of this? What's his angle?
