My friend is building a house and is considering a hosting-based cable (384/768 up/down) or fractional T1 for it. Might be a good enough reason to move in with him.
Yeah, something like that. I know, but we have one ISP that deals in broadband where I live. DSL, it's pretty reliable though. The cable company keeps saying they're going to, but they've been saying that for about 2 years now.
My friend was a beta-tester for cable in the city back in 1999. I got in a few months later. Man, I miss those uncapped days. I had an FTP server and I remember someone downloading 4 full ISOs. It finished in just over an hour. Now that the upload is capped, my SSH tunnels are hella slow. It sucks hairy gonads.
I'm just like fury, 3 mbps down, 128 up, I pay $35/mo (split 3 ways with roommates). At work we have 1 T1 to the internet, but are buying the equipment to upgrade to 4 T1s That will be about 6 mbps each way...at about $700/mo per T1, which is $2800 per month I'm glad I don't pay that bill
