I like Health Canada today

It’s called Plan B or the Morning After pill. But whatever euphemism you use, you won’t need a prescription to get it.

The drug prevents unwanted pregnancies if taken 72 hours after a woman has unprotected sex in 85 percent of all cases.

The pill works in one of three ways depending on where a woman is in her menstrual cycle. It can prevent an egg from being released from an ovary; it can also prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg, or it can stop a fertilized egg from implanting itself into the lining of the uterus.

For the first time, Health Canada has approved the use of the remedy without a doctor’s script. But it’s still not the breakthrough some advocates want.
Nice. :headbang:

I heard an interview on the radio this morning. Some asshole all giddy and happy about this.
Latest statistics show that 50% of pregnancies in this country are unwanted, and 25% result in abortion. Because we lacked this medication

I can't begin to say how many levels this bothers me on. This one short comment.

Wonder if they have something like this to 'advance the menstrual cycle' a few days or a week. It'd help out if a period is going to be happening during the week of : vacation, wedding, other large event.

Pregnancy? Didn't they already figure out what causes that?

Yep, it's called the depo. ;) Alternatively, you can just skip the sugar pills on the Pill, and take all the hormonals - good for skipping periods for a big event, but not so good for ongoing period skipping.
What? You did ask...

I'm with Prof on this one. The fact that it exists, no. I think every ER should have a supply waiting, come in after a rape, you get one, no question. Have sex and remember later you should have used a rubber or one of the other 50 kinds of birth control available? No.
