In the same location where you told it to stop, you also have to set the startup of the service to manul. If you don't, it'll just restart with every reboot, which is why you got another one.

You have to select the Messenger service, click on Properties, then it will pop up another box that will have a drop down in it, it will have the options, Automatic, Manual or Disabled. Set it to Disabled, click apply, and you should have it.
