India creates a LAW against religious conversions

Seems that India wants to keep its Hindu's as Hindus and want to keep their caste system firmly in place. How to go about this? Make it virtually impossible to convert to any other religion and fine those who try and fail.

:tsk:

I was going to reply to your seperation of political and religious forces in Aunty's thread. Seems you can't draw they seperation of the two in black and white. Not where the religious doctrine is also the law.

I guess we need to go in there now, and tell them they're wrong, huh?

Somebody once asked Ghandi what he thought of western civilisation. He said it would be a good idea.

im not suprised by this. the higher castes have more power and want that power. and theyll do what they can to keep it

How can any rule prevent that? Besides, we have many politicians who have not been to elementary schools. So how can they impose this ridiculous rule on the majority?

Heh, too true

?I think some Christian organizations have to rethink their evangelist strategies. It is a volatile situation. We need not give the impression that we are here to convert the whole of India into Christianity.

..and that is exactly what they are scared off, this is what they think is going on.

The new rule follows several public events in which massive numbers of lower caste Hindu Dalits embraced Christianity or Buddhism to escape caste discrimination within Hinduism.

If they still live in India they will be only fucked further.

As absurd as this law may be, it is a law & not a bunch of zealots blowing themselves or others up.
