Irish vengeance

But nailing a person to a fence takes a hell of a lot more time, so you can't talk about "the heat of the moment" anymore.

That's what i was thinking. The time this action actually takes seperates people who would think twice about what they were doing and people who wouldn't. They didn't. It's unimaginable prolonged violence.

I don't know, especially considering where these people are from, where car bombs and people getting shot was a part of their childhood, I'm just not all that surprised. There are far more barbaric events that happen all the time, yet becuase of the religous undertones of this beating, it somehow makes it more barbaric than the others. Yeah, religon is a wonderful thing.

as far as the uk news broadcasts on it go it seems to have been majorly incited by the fact the victim is catholic and is strongly suspected to be a secterian attack now. bear in mind the man was taken to a very remote location where he was nailed to a fence, the police are pretty sure he wasn't supposed to be found alive. he was also beaten so badly his father couldn't recognise him and he had a broken leg.

even though the good friday agreement [currently on hold] has been doing a great deal of good the recent stall and return to direct rule was a direct consequence of continued secterian attacks by both sides. this just goes to show how the undercurrent of violence there still goes on.
