Israel Palestine war expands

If certain nations drop support of terrorists & their activities & begin arresting violators (as the UN wants) then no more nations need come crashing down. Had Afghanistan simply complied with our request to turn over the active alqieda, they's still be living in the 12th century & happily killing one another. Had saddam stopped his weapons programs, he could have, today, been merrily raping & torturing his civilians until the UN decided it was enough. Both had an out & refused to cooperate.

Sorry, what weapon programs?

Gonz, Has it ever occured to you that it was the United States that started this international arms race and that we are the ones responsible for creating almost all of the technologies used to create all of those weapons of mass destruction? Take off your white hat and try to understand the line "you reap what you sow". Add to that our totally illogical method for determining who we support to have those weapons vs who we determine should not have those weapons and there is no surprize that much of the world takes a defensive posture with us. Which we then piss & moan about and use as an excuse to covertly insert a friendly government for them. How can you deny that the United States is strutting around with an attitude of world domination?

Edit: Sew..Sow...So? :D

sadly, while i genuinely appreciate the reasons for israel's actions i am not sure it will prevent or reduce acts of terrorism. now people in syria are further angered, they will feel justification for their dislike of israel which undoubtedly exists. hatred like that is only made entrenched through actions like this, it plays into the hands of terrorists who want to show the evils of israel and convince more to take up arms and cause further atrocities.

as for the us thing - no one likes the preachy people who think they know best and use every means they can to make sure people do stuff their way.

if we could get both sides to shut the fuck up and stop killing each other might help with the whole terrorism. but that needs to be on both sides.

i just wish the terrorists could understand that peaceful protests on enlarged scales [all out strikes, sit down protests or marches of the type ghandi used in india] would be a far more effective way to show their wish for change.

Uhhh...Squiggy...I believe it was Nazi Germany that started the first nuclear weapons programs. It was Germany under the Kaiser that first started chemical weapons programs. As for the rest, you are partly correct...but only partly. The same argument can be made for giving children C-4 to play with. Some folks just aren't responsible enough for that responsibility, and others are. I'm just glad it isn't my job to decide who is, and isn't, responsible. That duty belongs to the IAEA and the UN, their treaties, and their charters.

My reference was to the arms race, Gato. Not a weapons program. And regardless of who may have had a progrm, again it was us who developed and distributed the technologies that worked. For virtually all of it, anyway...

i do agree ris but as much as i hate to say it history is written in blood. that said its in our history and from the looks of things our future. but i wish it werent so. Ghandi was a great man and made some of the best history w/out violence. and his point got across.

The arms race worked. The USSR is no longer a world threat. Now if we can just get rid of these pesky terrorists, all will be well.

:yell: GONZ! open your damn eyes...Its all part of the arms race. whats the difference where the threat is coming from? We created an arms race and now there are arms out there that are going to be used against us...whether by russians or not is irrelevant . THE ARMS RACE DID NOT WORK.

long trip...I'll argue later. For now this

Arafat has suffered heart attack, admits aide

Officials tried to hide condition of president threatened by Israel
Chris McGreal in Jerusalem Wednesday October 8, 2003 The Guardian

Yasser Arafat has suffered a mild heart attack but the Palestinian leadership has sought to keep his health problems secret for fear it will "create panic".
The 74-year-old Palestinian president, who is suffering from Parkinson's disease, disappeared from public view last week and re-emerged at the weekend looking extremely ill. His face was pale and pinched, he had lost weight and he was almost inaudible. He had trouble standing for more than a few minutes at a time.

The Palestinian press said he was suffering from flu. But Palestinian officials told the Guardian that Mr Arafat had suffered a heart attack last week. "Although he has had a slight heart attack, the doctors say he will make a full recovery. He is in full control. There is nothing to worry about," said a close aide to Mr Arafat, who did not wish to be named.

I also heard that he smacked himself with his bottom lip when he cried for help and it gave him a nose bleed...:retard:
