TEL AVIV -- Twenty months into his presidency, George W. Bush is widely popular in Israel, according to public opinion polls and man in the street interviews.

Yitzchak Holtzman of Tel Aviv voiced typical Israeli sentiment when he told The Jewish Press, "Finally there is a courageous American president who understands how one has to deal with the likes of Saddam Hussein. I think he has to get rid of him once and for all and replace his regime."

I took this long for the Israelis to realize that it was the conservatives who were their real friends not the liberals.
 
They better not, we've stood up for them more times than we stand up for ourselves.
 
Its balanced out now because a high level slug in the German government has now compared Bush to Hitler. ..of all of the countries to do that.

They are as close as Britain. I'd trust them a little less though. They will take on the world, alone, (and probably win) while the Brits are tied to the US.
