I went searching for a download of DX8.1 for 2K through Google since MS doesn't offer it through their site any longer. Somewheres I lost mine. Anyway, I go huntin' around and click on a link that looked like it might have it. Right after I clicked on the link a dialog box popped up for a ActiveX component install. Meaning to click no, I accidently clicked yes.
Big god damn motherfucking pain in my ass mistake.
Within one or two seconds my screen was filled with IE boxes taking me on a guided tour of the wonderful porn availalbe on the Internet. Not only that, but I was also introduced to a number of programs that I really had no use for, but, it felt I needed, like PowerScan, BarginBuddy, ISTBar, etc....
For the last half hour I have been trying to clean it out. Uninstalled everything, deleted all the registry crap, deleted all the residual directories and files, etc....
Lesson the story....be very very very careful and click the fucking no button the next time.
