You know, I just can't help but feel that people who believe science to be another form of faith lack even the most rudimentary understanding of how science works. I can follow the reasoning that produces reproducible results whether or not I have the knowledge to reproduce them myself. This is completely different from believing something because it's in some "sacred" book or because I was taught it as a child.

Reproducable results is science. Going from protozoic muck to humanity is a hard trace.

On the contrary. In fact, I have a fairly high scientific background.

Which is also very different than having personal experience that leads one to a surety that a higher power, in my case God, is very real.

Scoff away. Your tune will change some day. I only hope it's before you die.

I should have clarified on that. I didn't want this thread to "evolve" into a pissing match. We already have another thread where this topic is being discussed.

Then just what DID you desire from this widdle exercise?

To get a read on the folk’s position on this matter?

Pretty much. That thread was getting pretty in-depth so I figured I throw this up just to see who was behind what.

So...how does this affect your thinking process? If everything you know is based on belief, in one form, or another, how do you, personally, know what to believe, and what not to believe?

I am still for evolution, still feel it is more hypothesis, but I would probably give it less credit as a hypothesis now than I did before.

It wouldn't let me choose more than one. :(
I believe a combo of the 2, along with a couple of other things in the mix.
I'd explain, but I don't like typing that much. :lloyd:
