Looking to pickle peppers

Yeah...I know that there's always the 'net, but I want experienced folk whom I know to answer this question:

What is the best way to pickle peppers, or in this case Hot Peppers so that I can eventually use them in chutneys and soups?

I've looked up 'peck' and I've got a whole whack more of 'em than that. Nearly 100 of the little red/purple devils.

139 recipies, and although I've looked at only a small portion, no two seem exactly alike. I'll try one that seems fairly complex but not impossible. Hopefully, it'll go well.

for recipes like this I tend to go to my beloved Mennonite cookbook...so I looked, and there are no pickled pepper recipes in there. Pickled everything else, but not pickled peppers.
