NASIRIYA, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. Marines searching Iraqi military headquarters in this southern city that was the site of intensive fighting came across a mural depicting a plane crashing into a building complex resembling New York's twin towers, a news agency photograph showed Wednesday.

The artist probably couldn't afford to take an art class...

This becomes most interesting if you put yourself in the GI's shoes who found it.

It's spine-tingling from a macro-perspective.

what flav because the artist isnt that great your quick to discount it? or in the conspirsy theory your gonna say we prolly drew it and blamed it on them?

an interesting drawing...but what exactly is your point? that iraq is linked to the terrorist attacks at the WTC?

would be a bit easy, wouldn't it?

Yep, thats the smoking gun. I'm glad we finally found it. There can be no doubt, Iraq was behind the whole thing. Now we can nuke em huh (leveling their cities seems to be a popular theme here). Yeah, the world should finally see what 'we're' talking about now. If only the UN had seen this before the war, surely they would be there fighting by our side. I wonder what further evidence we will find of the evil that is the Middle East and Islam. Surelyl they have Jimmy Hoffa hidden away there as well, and maybe the real killer OJ has been looking for, and that second gunman from the 'grassy knowll.' Yep, this certainly changes everything :D It must be a conspiracy theorist dream come true!

Hey Hex, I don't think you had ulterior motives. I'm sure others will want to put some spin on it though ;)

Thanks for the info, really, its interesting. And I don't think the art work is so bad. I think it should be useful to dull some sympathy for Iraqis a little. I'm sure people will find more justification for the war after seeing this tribute to 9/11, and those against might have a little less sympathy for the 'enemy.'

Of course, if we did put it there well... Not that I think we did, I'm sure we can find plenty more such evidence of their love for us. Kind of makes ya wonder though why exactly people think they are gonna welcome our 'liberation' efforts.

I seriously doubt the artist ever saw the towers & that is most likely a generalized rendition of tall buildings. It proves nothing. It does show the barbaric sentiments we face from a dictator, since it would have been allowed by his government & it's thugs

:grumpy:

It doesn't mean that they were involved you morons, it does mean they were apparently celebrating it though. Jeeeeezz.. I'm about fucking fed up.

Did I say any of that? I said it needed some work.

Are you going to promote a conspiracy theory that because some artist made this painting that Iraq was behind 9/11?

no was just curious if you were going to continue to come up with a way to say that we painted it and put it there to cover our asses.

Thing is Flav, in order to create art, good art, you have to have freedom of expression. The Iraqi people don't have this, not even high up in the military are you allowed to express yourself. This painting was done with the thought that the 9/11 was a good thing for Iraq. No, it does not prove they had anything to do with it, although I won't completely discount that possibility until after this thing is over. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out that Saddam had his fingers in it, or at least knew what was going down ahead of time.

What the painting does represent is the killing of Americans. That is the way Saddam feels, he would like nothing better than to kill you and me. Your anti-war rhetoric wouldn't mean a blessed thing to him, you are American, therefore you must die.

Now why would we do something like that? We're far too busy, and our forces are already spread to thin planting those chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. Come on man, we're way too busy for that :D I mean you can't just plant the plutonium and walk away, we have to guard it until CNN can report the discovery. Otherwise, the Iraqis may find it and acually use it!

I don't see how it would cover our asses anyway.

How would we know? Its not like we would take Saddams word for it, and well, who else could verify it if it wasn't a cover up? The US? The sad truth is neither side could 'prove' what the truth is. However, we KNOW the world would take our word for it. Its an issue of credibility. The fact is, its one of those things you could never really prove. What, are those 'imbedded reporters' gonna get the inside scoope on it? Like they even report regular operations, let alone 'black ops.'

The truth is, we could do it in theory, and there is no way anyone is gonna prove that we didn't uncover Iraqs hidden WMDs. Even if you think we are too good an honorable for that, the truth, is we could get away with it, and you know it!

Whether we do it or not is another matter, but of course we could!

bloody hell, i think its time everyone went to the timeout corner or sat on the stairs or went to the naughty corner.
