Miers withdraws!

Reaction Of Senator Patrick Leahy,
Ranking Member, Senate Judiciary Committee,
On The Withdrawal Of Harriet Miers’s Nomination
To The U.S. Supreme Court
October 27, 2005

“I spoke to Ms. Miers this morning and I wished her well.

“I look forward to consulting with the President on his third nominee to succeed Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court, and I hope it is a decision he approaches with the necessary independence from partisan factions. All Americans appreciate Justice O’Connor’s willingness to continue her service long past when she had intended to retire from the Court.”

Senator Specter drafted the legislation that established the Department of Homeland Security.

wanna place bets if its gonna be another woman?

I'll put money on that. That it won't be a woman that is. I think the pressure is now off Bush to select a woman. This time around he'll pick a proven conservative male(possibly black or hispanic) and the republicans will be so relieved that he(whomever he is) will glide through the rest of the process.

I'd put my money on Alberto Gonzales but Bush probably wants to keep him where he's at.

thats how i feel hex. I think she was chosen because of the pressure he was getting from sandra and gang, but now he is gonna make his real choice.
