Ambassador Ries Addresses Attack on Embassy

Ambassador Charles P. Ries expressed his appreciation today for the quick and professional response of Greek law enforcement agencies to the early morning rocket-propelled missile attack against the U.S. Embassy. Greek police, EOD teams and other Greek law enforcement officials have worked well and efficiently together with Embassy security personnel in analyzing the scene of the crime.

Ambassador Ries remarked that he is "also pleased with the political support offered by the Government of Greece and the main political parties, and with their determination to apprehend the perpetrators of this attack and prevent further attacks." Ambassador Ries is also "confident that the effort to damage the strong relations between the United States and Greece will not succeed."

The U.S. Embassy will be closed on Monday, January 15, for the Martin Luther King holiday, but will reopen on Tuesday for its usual business.

Greek Fire

Stories I've read mentioned 9 arrests/suspects/whatever and the pics of damage only showed one busted window.

Pretty weak from initial reports. Real amateur.

I strongly suspect this attack was deployed using a basselope.

On one hand, these attackers are fools. On the other, these attackers are terrorists & should suffer the might of the US Armed Forces.
