[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]It’s been almost two days, and there’s still no sign of her. And with each passing hour, the concern and the search for nine-year-old Cecilia Zhang grows more desperate and more frightening.
The nine-year-old was discovered missing Monday morning, when her parents went to get her ready for school. And while police still aren’t saying much, there are some telltale clues. A window in the back of her Whitehorn Crescent house was tampered with, leading police to conclude she was forcibly abducted. A tenant in the home claims to have heard a noise around 4am that fateful morning.
And a massive search of a foul-smelling waste transfer station at Victoria Park and McNicoll had investigators carting away four garbage bags full of evidence – although they’ve refused to say what they found or why they were looking there.
But they know time isn’t on their side. “As the hours go on we continue to, even though we're confident, we continue to be obviously concerned for her safety,” Sgt. Jim Muscat concedes. “The longer this goes on, the more and more hard it is for us.”
Not to mention her family, who are desperate to have their only child home. That’s why they’re hoping someone recognizes this description of the lively grade four student:
