[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]It’s been almost two days, and there’s still no sign of her. And with each passing hour, the concern and the search for nine-year-old Cecilia Zhang grows more desperate and more frightening.

The nine-year-old was discovered missing Monday morning, when her parents went to get her ready for school. And while police still aren’t saying much, there are some telltale clues. A window in the back of her Whitehorn Crescent house was tampered with, leading police to conclude she was forcibly abducted. A tenant in the home claims to have heard a noise around 4am that fateful morning.

And a massive search of a foul-smelling waste transfer station at Victoria Park and McNicoll had investigators carting away four garbage bags full of evidence – although they’ve refused to say what they found or why they were looking there.

But they know time isn’t on their side. “As the hours go on we continue to, even though we're confident, we continue to be obviously concerned for her safety,” Sgt. Jim Muscat concedes. “The longer this goes on, the more and more hard it is for us.”

Not to mention her family, who are desperate to have their only child home. That’s why they’re hoping someone recognizes this description of the lively grade four student:

  • 4’11”,
  • 70 lbs.,
  • Shoulder length brown hair, with blonde highlights,
  • Brown eyes,
  • Good teeth.

The Fresno PD is sifting through all the trash in the county landfill looking for the body of a 10-year-old girl who was killed in July, thrown in the dumpster and not reported missing until recently. The girl's aunt is in custody. They're mostly looking for the body for evidence and so she can have a proper burial.

The sad reality here is that there are many children that go missing from their homes or from school with no trace.

In some cases these poor kids fall victim to muti murders.

This past year I have received about 16 notices via e-mail from parent searching for missing children. :(

The odds are yes. But then remember Elizabeth Smart.

:crying4: Hopefully this family will be lucky enough to find their child alive. It's sad what goes on in this world nowadays. To be abducted from your school or your home, the two places you think you're safe. How sad.......

i hope they find her. shit thats so sad. poor kid. scared as hell if shes not dead(and i know how callous that sounds but she might have been killed) :crying4:

Here's a place where I volunteer most of my time and all of my money (donations)

They have links to police all over North America, Europe, Asia and parts of South America. If you hear of anything...after your local police, this is the way to go.

Kudos again to Metro Police :headbang:

sadly, she was found dead
but,
As police long surmised, it was someone familiar with Cecilia Zhang's family and home that allegedly kidnapped and killed the nine-year-old girl, as she lay sleeping in her Whitehorn Crescent bedroom last October.

Peel Police have arrested 21-year-old Min Chen, a Shanghai native, charging him with first-degree murder in the abduction and killing of the gifted Grade 4 student. The suspect had been in Canada since September 2001 on a student visa, and briefly attended both Seneca College and the McDonald Institute.

And he was very familiar with the Zhang home. “This individual is an associate of a young lady who was a former boarder at the home,” outlines Peel Chief Noel Catney. “The young lady had lived in the home from September of 2002 to March of 2003. It's my understanding that he had attended at the home at least on four different occasions, had met the parents, and on at least two of those occasions had interacted with Cecilia and had become familiar with her and she with him.”

They also reveal he often went fishing near the Credit River, not far from where Cecilia's body was finally found last March.

Police have been aware of their main suspect for several weeks, and spent hours watching him and becoming familiar with his lifestyle, before taking him into custody without incident at his Scarborough home on Wednesday.

But he didn’t get taken in alone. Cops have confirmed they also arrested another person, believed to be a female. Contrary to earlier reports, she has yet to be charged with anything, although the Crown Attorney is considering whether any are warranted.
