after visitor Dave Alsop stopped his car in the West Midland Safari Park to photograph Sharka the rhinoceros mating, Sharka uncoupled and instead passionately mounted Alsop's small Renault automobile, heavily denting it before Alsop could drive away (Bewdley, England).

Why is the lead "news of the weird" story about doctors having to leave their state because of rising malpractice insurance costs? That's not very offbeat or amusing to me.

Nope. That's tragic. The rest of the column, though...especially Sharka, I found to be quite humorous. :D
 
If you've never read it, in "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" (Douglas Adams) there is a 2CV in rather poor repair which is referred to as "the alleged car." :lol:
