If 2/3 of the participants primarily speak english, could we then stop printing everything in spanish?

WASHINGTON – North American national borders would be virtually eliminated under plans being considered by senior business and political leaders from Canada, the United States and Mexico for a "NAFTA-plus," continent-wide, customs-free zone with a common approach to trade, energy, immigration, law enforcement and security.

don't worry about Spanish...if Quebec sticks their noses into it it'll all be in freakin' french.
 
Do they print product labels in Spanish there Gonz? It almost never happens here. Occasionally we get it in French but that is very rare too, and I think it's only because we are shopping on occasion at the discount grocery and we get Canadian surplus. I once got a pizza stuffed thingee with no nutrition facts and half in French. I think it's illegal to sell anything here without nutrition facts.

I wonder if this thing is a good thing? I know duty free stuff is always good.
 
I hate to tell ya, but that must have been REALLY freakin old mark...it's illegal here for years now to sell food without nutrition facts. :sick:

1)"pizza stuffed thingee" may not actually qualify as foodstuffs ,so they may circumvent the rules
2)Because it didn't have the nutritional info ,it couldn't be sold in Canada so it was sold to "discount grocery" store in the US.
3)It isn't from/"intended for " Canada ,since there are other countries where French is spoken that may not require Nutritional info.

Here in Missouri I still see alot of stuff that has a Spanish translation on it, although very, very little that is only in Spanish.

Everyday that goes by I see more products (mexican) with labels in both languages. Not that it matters to me anyway.
 
Spanish product labels are fairly common out here. In fact, Suavitel is about the best fabric softener going, and the label for that is in Spanish.
 
Learn Spanish? My paternal grandfather & grandmother were in Arizona before AZ was a state. They both became American citizens. They were both bilingual. They ended up speaking english as a primary language. If anybody had a "right" to speak spanish, it was they. Instead, it was decided to "do as the Romans do".

Seriously Gonz, what's the problem with products having both languages in it? If the label is only in spanish you can always get another product or learn spanish.
 
I want people who decide to make The USA thier home to speak the common language. We've chosen english. I shouldn't need a translator at an American store.

I'd also expect anyone going elsewhere to learn the native language.

I agree with that. But I doubt that's the reason of the spanish labels, you are forgetting that many products are made in Mexico and many that are made in USA and Canada are to be exported to Mexico, that's why they have english/spanish labels.

As for spanish only labels, I'm sure all of them are made in Mexico.
