Occupational Blues?

On a scale of 1-10, (10 bein' best), how would ya rate yer personal satisfaction with yer current employment?

Myself, even though there is certainly a legitamate view that says, "contentment is a 'choice'", I'd have to admit that, though I'm considered by some as pretty 'good', at what I do from 6:00-3:30, can't help but think stayin' in college would've afforded me the freedom, at a younger age, to be doin' that which I love much better, now.

I'd rate my level of job-satisfaction a 5, on a good day.

(I know, considerin' our current economy, an' state of affairs, folks with jobs that pay the bills are extremely fortunate, an' I am thankful for mine, I was jus' thinkin' 'bout when times were less strained, a personal evalution that is independent of negative social restriction).

How 'bout you?:)

i'd have to give it a solid 7.

there are many things i hate about my job, but after 7 years (the last 1.5 years in the ER) i think i may be finally getting the hang of it. i've gotten to the point where i dont think about what i'm doing, i just do it.
then there is the fact that healthcare is one of the few areas that have rock solid job security for at least the next 10 years.

It ranges from 5-8 depending on what happens to be going on at any given moment. Some weeks are great...others blow...

..let me tell you this , though...excepting extremely technical training , college just finishes you off mentally and physically so that whatever occupation you choose doesn't eat you up in a couple years...

...if you manage to work the 5 year plan then what it proves is that you are a good con man...because you were able to sell that to your parents...

..so in the first case you can be pretty much whatever you like...and in the second..you're qualified for politics...

Wow, I got an' unexpected .20 cent/hr raise today!!

The first increase I've seen in over 2 yrs. Which for me, its not the amount of money that means so much, (obviously), but the amount of confidence my superiors expressed in my efforts, that feels so encouragin'!

During a time of company lay-offs, it came as a welcome surprise.:)
