database problems in here, site slow.

We should wait for Steve/fury/sam to know what's going on.
 
I was just curious. Every once in a while, my T-1 thinks it's dial up. Wanted to make sure it wasn't me.
 
Been a while since that's happened. It shouldn't happen again, at least not on a regular basis *cough*HostCrocket*/cough*
 
i haven't seen a 15-minute load under 4 all day, are we sharing a server with whitehouse.com or somethin? the generation times have been pretty high too
 
Mine's fine too. I just consider it my obligation to badger Steve. I think he's starting to like it too. :devious:
 
The load average doesn't really tell us much, it would be the idle percentage that knowing it would help out the most. A high load average may just mean there's a lot of people using a lot of the sites on the server, not that it's having a breakdown. Now, if the idle percentage (percent of the CPU not being used) goes down, then it's in trouble. The problem is, there's no way to tell what it is from within PHP, barring executing the top command and parsing it, which would do more harm than good.
