Iranian Supreme Revolutionary Guard forces under the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly killed a 10-year-old boy in the country's minority Baloch region yesterday, touching off a massive uprising against the Islamic regime countered by a deadly crackdown and imposition of martial law, according to sources on the scene.

Amid burning banks, stores and government offices, at least 30 Baloch protesters are dead and 80 injured in the southeastern city of Saravan near the Pakistani border, said Malek Meerdora, who immigrated to Canada from the city in 1993.

God, I hate sounding ignorant, but..you sure got a pretty mouth *cue banjo music*

no, that's not it, what do you mean phase 2, I read the article, I jsut didn't get what you meant.

Iran is on the verge of all out civil war...they decided that the revolution in the 70's was stupid. The people want their country back. Having us next door (on both sides) helps bolster their enthusiasm.

Wonder who we'll supprt this time. We supported Iraq when Iran were the bad guys, supported Afghanistan when Russia were the bad guys...it's time to pick someone new for Iran... kind of makes me wonder what the new ruler will be like in 20-30 years when we have to take him down with out Iraqui and Afghani allies.

flip flop? Did I get it right Joe?

This will be a civil war so only one "side" is fighting. You're probably close to what he was after.

It was either that or he was acusing you of flip-flopping.

One side? Nah...there's always two sides at least...the incumbents and the freedom fighters (sounds more romantic).

Now...if it could only go as smoothly as it did in Georgia...that'd be nice :)

Yep...flip flop. Seems to be the thing to do whenever we speak of one of these religious nations....Just waiting to see how Gonz is going to justify this uprising after having defined treason, terrorrism, sedition, and all the other common terms he likes to use .... These are people posing a threat to a legitimate government. No?

They would be guilty of all the crimes you mention, unles they win. Then they will write teh new rules. Winning has it's advantages.

And, assuming they win, should you not like the rules they make, do we go in and take the country back for the poor defeated government?

Civil war is an internal affair. The new government isn't a threat. Now, should that change...

So the civil war in Iraq where the people are trying to take the country back is a good thing...Just like Iran, right?

Yep. We just helped them along by removing the head of their dragon.

For the 50millionth time, those are terrorists & saddam's puppet government wanting to re-establish their hold. They don't like to be thought of as losers.

but gonz arent all govts in a way puppeteers? they give the order and people blindly obey. also noone wants to be the loser.
