photoshop question

a while back, i downloaded the trial version of the latest version of photoshop when i had cable

i can't figure out how to use the eyedropper tool. if i change the colors in the small squares, it reverts back to white when i click on the picture to fill it in with a color. i can't get the eyedropper to floodfill the image with the color that i want and don't know what i am doing wrong.

is the photo youre working on in greyscale?

The eyedropper is used to" choose" a colour,to apply/fill a colur use the "paint bucket"

Photoshop is awesome; I just realized what a handy tool the magnetic lasso tool is! (and I've been using PS since about 2.5).
