A University of Iowa law professor has complained that a locker room set aside for visiting teams at Kinnick Stadium is homophobic and sexist because it's painted pink, according to the Associated Press.

Erin Buzuvis, who moved from Boston to Iowa City to teach at the law school, says she and several friends have been concerned for months about the message behind the locker rooms. She says they promote negative stereotypes.

"With a pink locker room, you're saying that 'You are a girlie man. You are weak, like a girl,'" Buzuvis said. "That implies that girls are nondominant, therefore, lesser. And that is offensive."

The locker room was painted pink in the 1970s by former Hawkeye football coach Hayden Fry. The carpeting, metal lockers, brick walls, sinks, shower floor -- even the urinals -- are all pink.

Buzuvis says she has been getting death threats and hate mail since disclosing her discomfort about the locker room to a reporter.

Now let me see. What part of the above story really lets me know what's the root of the problem here. Lemme see...

Oh yeah! THIS part:

who moved from Boston

Seems to be the problem a lot of places. Transplanted yankees who got tired of screwing up their own hometowns and deide to enlighten the rest of the world with their superior intellect and everything else. Like it ain't enough that they fucked up life where they were planted; now they gotta share the joy.

I think having the visitor's locker room painted pink is hilarious myself. I mean, it IS a game and all.

And she got hate mail too! Oh the horror! D'ya think?

It's always been the habit to paint the oppositions locker room calming colours. Pale blues, greens, etc, make them less agressive. Fire engine red for thehome team to get them fired up.

But, for most places, the opposition team lockers are the girls lockers. Would they prefer a bile green?

Bingo! That's the exact point of painting the visitor's locker room pink! Keep in mind that most football players are particularly masculine men, and would take offense because they're being told they're girlie men, not because it implies that girls are weak.

now wait a minute... not all of us from this area are enlightened and with superior intellect.

...wait...that doesnt sound right.... :retard:

please keep in mind the number of colleges in this area. not all the transplanted Bostonians are from Boston initially.

Are you getting offended too? :p

I think most of you missed the point entirely. Here we have a woman complaining about a men's locker room. I'd go further about the glaring assumption in all this, but I don't think that would be appropriate for all members here...

In all seriousness, OTC is supposed to be free-speech as long as you don't call people names ;)

Why Louie?, are you "Pretty in Pink"?

If I understand this whole offensive racist, sexist, homophobe thing (as a core conservative I do practice these things in my daily life so I should understand them) isn't simply assuming the color pink to be feminine & possibly homosexual in nature & assuming females are weak sexist & homnophobic?
