Prof....

BTW - the induction stove top really blinded the electrician (and me, admittedly) with science. I walked in on him trying to get a burner to heat up :D
I grabbed a pot to show him but what I didn't know (or didn't remember) was that the pot had to have a completely flat bottom and the pot I grabbed was ridged. When we used a metal bowl the water inside heated up like a flash! Then we both touched "the burner" and were blown away that it was cool :nerd:

VERY nice pics Tonks, I love the colour!!

I also didn't know that such a stove top existed!

I checked the info on it... for those that don't know, induction cookware requires a pot or pan made of a ferrous metal to work... cast iron is OK, most stainless steel is OK... glass isn't, aluminum isn't, copper isn't. It works via magnetism.

Pots that will work with it are available from top-of-the-line cookware all the way down to thrift store bargains. But if you already have a hefty investment in pyrex cookware, you might want to take the cost of new pans into consideration.

I like pyrex for the oven but we do range top cooking with stainless steel or cast iron.

I'm OK with pyrex for things like baking porkchops and other meats but I find that when I use it for baked goods the bottom often burns before it's cooked all the way through.

Ok...so the painters did the common areas yesterday. I really dig the color. It's much warmer and I find the trim pops more than before:

Are you going to keep that color of carpet on the stairs now that you have the new paint scheme?

Thanks, Nix!

Inky - No. Eventually that carpet will be something else. We have also purchased a replacement rug for the foyer but haven't picked it up yet due to the painting.

Okay...update.
We were distressed to discover that a lot of our cookwear did not have enough magnetic alloy to work on the new induction cooktop so we had to replace it. We basically had our choice between 2 lines of cookwear. One was a line of All-clad and one was Le Creuset. We had a few pieces of All-clad from a different line and I really didn't care for it so we went with the Le Creuset (which we already had 3 pieces in our line up)....which was a good choice because for once the thing that I liked was the least expensive of our choices.
We found out that our special order cabinet door pulls have been delayed another month...and the only reason we found out was because I asked Rob to look into why we hadn't received them yet when he went to pick up the other 76 pulls. He picked those up when he and Steve picked up the new foyer rug that has been held for us due to the painting.
Here it is:

Thanks :D
It has all the colors of the house represented and it blends well with the Egyptain theme of the livingroom and main floor bathroom.
