Nothing will ever be as good as Silence of the Lambs, I don't know why they keep trying. Better than Hannibal IMHO but could have used better characterization for everyone except Hannibal himself (because we already know all about him).

Had me scared a few times, a few cheap scares in there too. I had most of it figured out from the get go, there was only one part that I didn't figure out. It was pretty predictable.

All in all, I probably would have waited for the DVD to come out. Not a total dissapointment for me, but might be for other people. I'm wondering what the book is like because I read Hannibal after I saw the movie and it was better with a different ending to boot. (if you want to know what the ending was in the book, I'll tell you) I'm assuming the book has better characterization than the movie does. At least I hope so.
 
The movie Hannibal was quite bad, compared to the book. I really enjoyed reading the book, and that even scared me a few times...The movie on the otherhand was kinda lame, and the good stuff was cut out. It was a big dissapointment to me...only nice detail was in Florence, where the inspector got thrown out of the window and his guts splat on the pavement :D
Even though a few chinese girls got sick in front of me, the sight of that made me laugh :D OK, I know, I'm sick :D

The part where Dr. Lector eats the brains is FAR more detailed in the book than in the movie...



Let's hope Red Dragon is better :)
 
The book is actually excellent. I read it in two days a couple years ago, and it was tough to put down. Haven't seen the movie, yet.
 
Shadow, which ending did you like better in Hannibal, the book or the movie?

I just bought a couple of books but I might pick up Red Dragon next time around...
 
I read Silence of the Lambs - very good. I tried to read Hannibal next but I couldn't. I don't really enjoy the way Thomas Harris writes most of the time.
 
Isn't Red Dragon the remake of Manhunter (the supposed first appearance of Hannibal Lector)? I think William Peterson (the CSI guy) is in that one. I could be wrong though. :shrug:
