saddam is in trouble now

I view Colin as one of the most level-headed individuals in the US government. When he says it's time, it's time.

If you think so, but I think Colin has quite a bit of power myself.

he does, but still going to war isn't a decision made by one person. neither bush, neither powell...

then again, they will profit from the work of the inspectors, so they can build up troops in the gulf...

shadows right. the congress will need to back him though pt does have a point in that when he says its time its time but as prof said someone else told him to. that someone else that told him has power. that power is represented by Powell.

Powell is a good soldier and does what he is told...(looks around for a reaction)...

I've wondered about this for some time...the hesitent warrior now beats the war drum. It's not like Powell to give in under pressure but who knows under these circumstances. If i saw him wavoring in any way i might be concerned but he seems certain of himself. This ought to prove a good story for the history books,

Somehow I think that when the entire US armed forces is parked at the curb waiting for one person to peek his head out, You don't need Powell's endorsement to know you're in trouble.....:D

:bs: Is that the reaction you wanted? Actually, to be fair, that is a fair statement, he will do what he is told, if someone has the balls to tell him. But I really doubt anyone has the balls to tell him to say something that he doesn't believe.

That's more like it, he's not one to give under pressure, he's point blank said he doesn't run for office cause he don't want to have to kiss peoples asses. Not his style. He's not going for a popularity case, he's just there to advise and to help plan. If that man wanted to, I'm quite sure he could become our first black president.

Ahh yes...The black whiteman....Not as ugly as the whiteman....But just as strange... ~Old Lodge Skins~

I've heard that it's costing so much money to have them parked there that they need to invade to be a little cost effective.

I only made that comment about Powell following orders because i heard someone on cnn say it although in a condisending tone, and i wanted to see what it looked like in text.
Between the Bush's, wolfowitz, Dick chainy, Donald Rumsfeld & Karl Rove this has got to be one of the most powerful and influential staffs to enter the whitehouse in some time. Many people like to look at bush as though he were an idiot but just look who he's surrounded himself with. I just wonder how this effects Powell. He's often butted heads with all these men and yet over the past six months it's like he's fallen in line or something. I don't however even pretend to understand things to the extent that any of these men do and they're the ones holding the key intelligence. I also don't believe that Powell is oil mongering with the rest of the pack, in fact i don't believe that any of them are.

Kinda depends on how you look at him.

I'm pretty much with PT on this one.
I think the pres. takes what Powell says into Very Heavy
consideration. Not vise versa.
Furthermore I don't think Bush would put anyone on his staff
to pressure to say anything, except Flesher.;)
Now he might tell them to say nothing at all.;)

Say what? We pay them every month whether they are at war or cleaning latrines. It's costing us nothing but time.
