Just as an interesting story, and in no way a reflection on Americans (who I think are very nice btw )...
My friend went to America once and she was talking to these girls. The girls asked her how she got to America, and just for a laugh my friend said:
"On the tunnel"

and the girls went...

"Really!? ...cool!"

Sad to say, but I can relate to that story. I was talking to a girl from the States (Pennsylvania, I think) and she asked me how long the DRIVE to Hawaii is.

well, if i'm driving 70mph, take into account currents and eddies, the numerous trenches and occasional storms at sea, i'll get to cali in ... hmmm ... it's not worth it, i'd rather travel by air
