Snake fans, Anyone?

What do you feed a snake that weighs in at almost 1/2 ton?

Anything it wants :D

this is strange...sometime within this decade they (the people that do these things) set a reward for "large" snake...you know, alive, as the snake population was apparently dwindling...reports of large snakes are not anywhere as common as they used to be (thank you, jef corwin)....i'm wondering if it's possible to 'farm raise' snakes that biggggg....

The Indonesian newspaper Republika said the snake, which was caught last year but only recently put on public display, eats three or four dogs a month.

Now that bothers me...:(

I just have to wonder how exactly they feed it. Although I really don't think I would want to see it, I've seen a snake eat mice and rabbits, it has to be interesting.

at the national zoo, when i was a kid, they had an anaconda that ate small deer...that would've been crazy to watch.

I understand the nature of things. But you'll never catch me feeding a warm blooded creature to a cold blooded creature. Just doesn't sit well with me. It is, afterall, being warm blooded that allows for emotion.

It is a bit disturbing. But why? Only because we've grown to be fond of these creatures. It's not much different than any other animal being used as food.

I wonder if they have an over population of dogs or if sheep/goats/deer are too expensive. I think I'd drop it a deer or two a week.

Cold blooded animals are incapable of emotion. What you see are instincts played out on different stimutii....

Rose, I can't even consider feeding a mouse to a smaller snake. Like i said, I uderstand the nature of things and its not like I hate snakes for eating. You just won't catch ME taking part in the ritual.

squigs, i disagree...this snake was always happy to see me...curled around my shoulder...even gave kisses on demand...i miss him.

*hehe* I understand. I've never been too keen on watching a feeding myself. However, I will admit I've seen several rat feedings. As long as the rats were ugly, I didn't have a problem with it. You know - the creepy ones with the pink/red eyes. But if the rat looked anybit of cute, I couldn't watch either Dexter or Dee Dee eat.

The worst part of the snake feeding - when dinner screams it's goodbyes. :(

Gosh, I could have found a way not to be so creepy with that. Sorry. :s

Sorry.

Yeah, I've not been able to watch Dex or Dee Dee eat a rabbit yet. They were being fed chickens before we got them. But that sounds ... gross. So I've only seen the rats. I don't visit now because their cage is too small and it pisses me off.

Oh yeah, PT - I don't think I'll ever forget the sound of the scream, either. I don't think I cried, but came close. *lol*
