Did you know that hamsters scream!!!??!?
I heard one a few years ago when one of my pet hamsters escaped it's cage, left the room where we kept them and entered 'the land of the cats', where it was promptly cornered by Seven and Ginger, played with for a while and then...umh... munched on. This was 2am and the scream woke up both MrsBish and I rather quickly. There was nothing that we could do for the little rodent in question, but the scream rings on!
