My mother and her boyfriend are getting married.

Why 2 people in there mid 60's feel like it is no longer good to live in sin

Perhaps they decided that they needed a new kitchen set, dishes, knives, and stemware and that wedding gifts would cover about 90% of it.

Fast wedding: $3,000
Gifts: $5,000

ka-ching! quick profit.

My sister and her husband lived together for 22 years before getting married (12 years ago if memory serves). Who knows why. I think she just got tired of saying no.

Nah they want to have it out of town just to avoid that situation. That and they just moved again and bought all new stuff

Probably something to do with insurance benefits, etc.

It would suck if they're together for 20 years, get married and then end up divorced within five years.

They both have no need to get married for that, the way the laws work here, I think it is just love, and they decided (Well he proposed)

wow .. regardless of the reason, congratulations to them both .. I think that's so romantic :)

well maybe a man could provide viable see in his 60s but i dunno if she's gonna be popping out a postmenopausal kiddie... of course they could adopt a romanian war baby. :D

Wimmins in their 50's & 60's are having rugtrats all over the place. It's the lastest phenomena. Drugs & doctors who flunked ethics are to thank.

we're not in our 60's, but we've been living together for 11 years now. only reason for us to get married now would be insurance/retirement/tax purposes.maybe thats why?

Theres also the perennial movie plot where some rich relative goes 'I'm dying... and I'm going to leave you $90 million dollars provided that you get married within 90 days.'

Are you ALL going? On the bus? On a plane? Train? Automobile?

Congratulations to them, I hope you (and Leslie & kids if they go that is) have a great time at the party.

Thanks, my mom rushed the date a bit so I am going solo, there wasn't enough time to arrange vacation time for Leslie, etc.

And are you gonna have time to meet anyone while you're here?

Unfortunetly no. The entire weekend is filled with endless dinners brunches and other forms of family hell. Next time I come up, with Leslie I will make sure I have more notice and actually get to see some people.
