So tell me

Let's say you, an Irish woman & a Londoner moved to Bombay. The three of you took up residence there. The three of you also became Indian citizens. The three of you, along with your respective spouses, each had a son. You & they share heritage. You & they share a homeland. You & they share a race. You & they share ethnicity. Indian.

Yet you & they don't share natural nationality. How would your children be different from one another? How would one know they are different without beng told?

1. The bold sentences state the truth of the matter. For all intents and purposes, all 3 families are Indian.

2. Ethnicity has no bearing on this, as yet, unless those families decide to bring that into play, using such ethnicity to blatantly gain status/power over the local populace (racism/bigotry).

1. All three families are Indian. From what Prof said earlier, I'm not sure he agree's with that.

2. Upon leaving "home", personal ethnicity is no longer important, since each region has different ethnic beliefs.

From a legal standpoint, all three are Indian. Ethnicity has no bearing.

Ethnicity comes into play only when it gives some benefit to one group over another, hence the 'racism/bigotry' problems we have in todays world. THK says she's African because she feels it will give her some benefit through helping her husband's campaign. The fact that she has no African ethnicity, nor citizenship, doesn't seem to matter to most folks...but most folks don't see the hypocrisy involved...

And that my friend is exactly why I don't agree with automatically giving
illegal mexican immigrants children that are born just over the boarder citizenship here. ;)
